Laie Christmas Flood!

This morning I woke up at about 10:30 and I heard rain pouring outside. I'd never been to the beach in the rain before, and I figured if I only have three days left, I may as well take advantage of it. I pulled on my swimsuit and started to walk to the beach, and this is what I saw...

Looks a little shallow, I know, but walk a little further into the field and...

Or you could go to the stake center...

Needless to say, the water was freezing and this was one of the coolest things I've seen since I've been here! I tried to take pictures of the streets, but it was too late. By the time I got my camera back out, they'd already drained most of it. I actually DID make it to the beach, and the streets were knee deep the entire way, and sometimes you'd step off the curb without realizing it. People were out there with their body boards and there was more people out the streets for the flood than for the Art City Days parade back in Springville! The beach itself. Pretty unimpressive. Very, VERY dirty, it was a nasty shade of brown and parts were black and it was just unpleasant.

The rest of today has been way fun though! And for everyone back in Utah, I just got my first taste of "cold" I've felt in a LOOOOONG time, and it's still 70 degrees here. Three days from today, I'll be reminded what it's really like.
